Sarala Prideaux

 Director

Sarala Prideaux has been dancing and teaching for over 25 years. She studied Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary to high levels and has performed in musicals since she was a young child. She has multiple teaching qualifications in Ballet, Jazz and graduated with a Bachelor of Dance in 2009.

Sarala established Great South Dance Academy in 2012 and thoroughly enjoys growing and developing the studio. She can be contacted at [email protected]

Miss B

Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary

Miss B started dancing at the age of 3. She has studied all styles and focused particularly on jazz and ballet. She has achieved her advanced examinations in ballet and jazz and achieved her Bachelor of Dance in 2010.

Since then she has been dancing and performing both in NZ and Canada.

“I believe dancing is a great way to learn how to be a part of a group and work with others as well as to gain self-discipline, fitness, peace, enjoyment and confidence through expressing oneself either in private or publicly on a stage.”

Miss Tiara

Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary

Tiara has been dancing since the age of 5. She joined Great South Dance Academy at the age of 12 and carried on to complete her Advanced 1 RAD ballet exam and also was a member of the Contemporary troupe whilst at the studio. She has since graduated from Unitec with a Bachelor in Contemporary dance and Performing in Screen Arts.  She is a qualified NZAMD dance teacher.  Her passion for dance inspires her desire to teach the future generations, and we are excited to have her as part of the teaching team here at GSDA.

Miss Duffell

Ballet, Contemporary

Amy has been dancing since the age of 4. She has studied ballet and contemporary to advanced levels whilst enjoying jazz and musical theatre on the side. She is currently studying with the Royal Academy of Dance to achieve her Certificate in Ballet Teacher Studies.

Miss Louise

Ballet

Louise started dancing at the age of 3 years old and has been dancing ever since.

Louise originally trained in the U.K. until the age of 18 where she gained exams in RAD Ballet, ISTD Modern, Jazz and Tap. She then went on to train professionally at the Urdang Academy in London achieving her Level 6 National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre and Dance where she studied multiple genres of dance and musical theatre including Hip Hop, Commercial, Tap, Ballet jazz singing and acting. Louise is thrilled to be working for GSDA and is very passionate about sharing her knowledge of dance and the performing industry with the pupils.

Miss Gilmore

Ballet

Kim has been dancing since the age of 7. She has studied ballet and contemporary and Jazz to advanced levels. She is currently studying with the Royal Academy of Dance to achieve her Certificate in Ballet Teacher Studies.

Jo Gilmore

Studio Manager

Jo has been part of the Admin team since the start of 2017. Prior to this she had been running her own business and helping out at the studio with DIY, props etc. She was then offered a fixed role at the studio where she is a real asset to the team and a huge help to us all.

Susan Lowen

Studio Receptionist

Susan has been with GSDA for many years now as her daughter has danced her way through the school. She is currently our wonderful receptionist during the week in Takanini and on Saturdays in Pt Chevalier.
